Accountability and Local Level Initiative to Reduce Emission from Deforestation and Degradation in Indonesia

The Accountability and Local Level Initiatives toReduce Emissions from Deforestation andDegradation in Indonesia (ALLREDDI) program isimplemented by the World Agroforestry Centre(ICRAF) in partnership with the Directorate Generalof Forest Planning, Ministry of Forestry (DitjenPlanalogi), Brawijaya University (UB) and theIndonesian Centre for Agricultural Land ResourcesBalai Besar Penelitian dan PengembanganSumberdaya Lahan PertanianResearch and Development (ICALRRD) through support from the EuropeanCommission (EU) under the Environment and Sustainable Management ofNatural Resources, Including Energy program. The agreement was signed inDecember 2008 and ALLREDDI activities began in January 2009.
This project is designed to contribute to: the development of national carbonaccounting and monitoring systems in Indonesia that are in compliance withthe Tier 3 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reportingguidelines; the development of technical capacities at sub-national andnational levels; and the design of mechanism for Reducing Emissions fromDeforestation and Degradation (REDD) in five pilot areas in western, centraland eastern Indonesia.
