Forest transition theory describes changes ofnational forest cover from high deforestation to stabilization andreforestation, resulting in an increasing forest cover in relation withsocio-economic development demands. Vietnam has been recognized at the laterstage of forest transition curve with increasing forest cover but with poorforest quality. This article discusses Vietnam’s forest polices and revision ofForest Protection and Development Law (2004) in the lens of forest transitiontheory.
