Sandalwood: Foundation of the Earth and the Source of Life
Abstrak
Sumba in Indonesia was once called the Sandalwood Island but deforestation has reduced the island to savanna. Farmers are keen to reforest their land but lack the knowledge of how to cultivate the tree, which requires a host plant and specific techniques.
ICRAF has been training farmers in how to cultivate sandalwood as part of the Indonesia Rural Economic Development project, which is led by Wahana Visi Indonesia in partnership with Lutheran World Relief. The project is supported by the Australian Government.
